Paul Griffiths Chief Executive Officer Dubai Airports UAE
Paul Griffiths is Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports, with the responsibility for the operation and development of Dubai International (DXB) as well as Dubai World Central
(DWC), which will eventually be the world’s biggest, and best, airport.
Paul joined Dubai Airports as its first CEO in October 2007 and has since overseen a series of flawless facility openings including Terminal 3 at Dubai International in 2008, the emirate’s second airport DWC in 2010, the world’s first purpose-built A380 facility Concourse A in 2013 and Concourse D on February 24, 2016. Next, Paul will lead efforts to completely re-design and set new standards for the airport passenger experience as part of the US$32 billion expansion of the next phase of DWC.
Prior to moving to Dubai, Paul was Chairman and Managing Director of London’s Gatwick Airport. Before joining airport operator BAA in 2004, he spent 14 years with the Virgin Group, working closely with Sir Richard Branson as a Board Director of the Virgin Travel Group. In the 1980s, he spent four years in Hong Kong developing the marketing, commercial planning and technology functions for Dragonair.
Paul has managed to combine a high profile career with a passion for music. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists as well as a Council member, Chairman of the Executive Committee and a Vice President of the Royal College. In commemoration of his services to British prosperity in the UAE and to music, Paul became a Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2015. Paul is married to Joanna (also a concert organist and composer) and has three children between the ages of 12 and 25.
